We are building an in-house specialty pharmacy program and seeking patient-focused, detail-oriented Pharmacy Technicians to join the team!

As a Specialty Pharmacy Technician, you’ll be part of building this program from the ground up, supporting clinical workflows, patient access, and specialty pharmacy operations from day one. This role plays a key part in delivering high-quality, patient-centered specialty care and helping launch this new service line for the community.

Job Summary

  • Accurately fill and label prescriptions, including proper handling of specialty, cold-chain, and high-cost medications.
  • Prepare medications for pharmacist check and maintain accurate prescription, insurance, and patient information in the system.
  • Support prior authorizations by gathering clinical details, submitting requests, tracking status, and communicating updates.
  • Help patients access financial assistance, copay programs, and foundation support to reduce out-of-pocket costs.
  • Manage specialty inventory, including ordering, stocking, tracking shipments, and removing expired products.
  • Assist patients with calls, refill coordination, and pickup questions, ensuring a smooth and supportive experience.
  • Maintain compliant, organized work areas and support proper handling of controlled substances, hazardous medications, and limited-distribution drugs.
  • Collaborate with pharmacists, clinic staff, and care teams to ensure safe, timely, patient-centered medication delivery.
  • Adhere to all federal, state, and organizational pharmacy laws, policies, and specialty pharmacy procedures.

Required Education, Skills, Abilities:

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Certification/Licensure: Active Pharmacy Technician license/registration in the state of practice (if required). National certification (PTCB or ExCPT) preferred.
  • Experience: 1+ year of pharmacy technician experience (in a dispensing or specialty setting preferred).
  • Skills & Competencies: Strong attention to detail and accuracy in preparing medications; Excellent organizational, time-management, communication, and teamwork skills; Familiarity with pharmacy software and prescription processing systems; Customer-service oriented with a compassionate, professional demeanor.
Certification Requirements (All)
Registered Pharmacy Technician in the state of Kentucky
