We are building an in-house specialty pharmacy program and seeking experienced Clinical Pharmacists to join the team!

As a Clinical Specialty Pharmacist, you'll be part of building this program from the ground up, including shaping clinical workflows, patient care models, and specialty pharmacy services. In this role, you will play a key part in establishing high-quality, patient-centered specialty care within our outpatient clinics and helping bring this new service line to the community.

Job Summary

  • Provide direct patient care within specialty clinics, evaluating and managing complex medication therapy through consultations and targeted chart review.
  • Collaborate with prescribers and care teams to optimize specialty medication regimens using evidence-based guidelines and patient-specific factors.
  • Educate patients on specialty medication use, side effects, administration techniques, adherence strategies, and lifestyle considerations.
  • Conduct medication reconciliation, adherence assessments, and therapy monitoring during clinic visits, telehealth encounters, or proactive outreach.
  • Coordinate prior authorizations, appeals, benefits investigations, and financial assistance to ensure timely access to high-cost therapies.
  • Monitor for drug interactions, duplications, contraindications, and adverse reactions, documenting all clinical interventions and care plans in the EHR.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives, medication use evaluations, and patient/staff education to enhance specialty care delivery.

Required Education, Skills, Abilities:

  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree or Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) from an ACPE-accredited school of pharmacy.
  • Licensure: Current and unrestricted pharmacist license in the state of Kentucky.
  • Certifications (Preferred): Certified Specialty Pharmacist (CSP) or Board Certification in a specialty disease state (e.g., BCOP, BCACP).
  • Experience: 1–3 years of pharmacy experience. Exposure to ambulatory care, outpatient, and/or specialty pharmacy preferred. Candidates who have completed a PGY1 or PGY2 in ambulatory care or a specialty disease state strongly encouraged to apply.
  • Skills & Competencies: Strong knowledge of pharmacotherapy and evidence-based medicine; excellent communication and patient counseling skills; ability to work independently and collaboratively within an interdisciplinary team; proficiency with EHR systems and pharmacy management software; strong organizational and documentation abilities.
