Job Summary/Purpose
The Fitness Trainer designs, implements, and monitors individualized fitness and wellness programs for patients and hospital staff. The trainer works closely with healthcare professionals to ensure safe and effective exercise plans that support patient recovery, health maintenance, and wellness goals.
Essential Key Job Responsibilities
· Assess patient and staff fitness levels and develop personalized exercise programs.
· Provide instruction and supervision for therapeutic and general fitness activities.
· Monitor progress and adjust fitness plans as needed to meet health and recovery objectives.
· Educate patients on proper exercise techniques, safety precautions, and lifestyle modifications.
· Collaborate with physical therapists, physicians, and other healthcare staff to integrate fitness programs into patient care plans.
· Maintain equipment and ensure safe use of fitness facilities.
· Document patient progress and program participation in compliance with hospital policies.
· Participate in wellness initiatives and community outreach programs as assigned.
· Perform all described PT Tech duties (per job description) when not managing Wellness Center clients
· Conduct and participate in regular hospital and department in-services and continuous improvement efforts as well as community education programs to area schools as it is related to injury prevention and sports conditioning
Role Minimum Qualifications
Required Education
· Bachelor’s degree of Science, Exercise Science/Sports Medicine
Required Licensure and Certifications -Post Hire
Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Preferred Qualifications
· Certification as a Personal Trainer from a recognized organization (e.g., ACE, NASM).
· Experience working in clinical or hospital-based fitness/wellness programs
