Job Summary/Purpose 

The Rehab Technician assists therapists by providing patient care support, transporting patients, and performing routine departmental tasks. This position supports the delivery of rehabilitation services to patients of all ages, ensuring adherence to safety protocols and promoting patient well-being. 

  

Essential Key Job Responsibilities 

·         Assist physical and occupational therapists in delivering care to patients ranging from pediatric to geriatric populations. 

·         Safely lift, transfer, and assist patients both within the rehabilitation department and at the bedside. 

·         Comply with safety and emergency procedures, including maintaining current CPR/Basic Life Support certification. 

·         Clean and maintain work areas, equipment, treatment tables, and therapy tools. 

·         Transport patients to and from the rehabilitation department. 

·         Prepare patients and therapy equipment for treatment sessions (e.g., hydrotherapy tanks, paraffin baths, hot packs). 

·         Perform treatment modalities within scope and training, such as moist heat packs, ice packs, massage, ultrasound, electrical stimulation, traction, ambulation, iontophoresis, therapeutic exercises, and activities of daily living (ADLs), under therapist supervision. 

·         Obtain and organize equipment, materials, and supplies prior to treatment. 

·         Adhere to infection control and safety guidelines in all tasks. 

·         Communicate effectively with patients, families, and rehabilitation staff, referring medical questions to therapists. 

·         Answer department phone calls and direct messages appropriately. 

·         Schedule patients for therapy services and assist with documentation and filing of departmental records. 

·         Maintain inventory and requisition supplies as needed. 

·         Attend departmental meetings and represent Rehab Services as directed. 

  

Role Minimum Qualifications 

  

Required Education 

·         High school diploma or equivalent 

  

Required Licensure and Certifications                -Post Hire 

  • BLS

Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills and Abilities 

  • Strong customer service and communication skills.
  • Ability to safely lift and assist patients up to 50 pounds and push/pull equipment up to 75 pounds occasionally.
  • Physical ability to perform standing, walking, crouching, squatting, and repetitive hand/finger coordination activities required for patient care and equipment handling.
  • Ability to work with patients across all age groups, from infants to the elderly.

Preferred Qualifications 

·         Previous rehab aide or tech experience
