Catholic Charities of Louisville (CCL) is the social-service arm of the Archdiocese of Louisville (ADOL). We provide help and create hope for the poor and vulnerable through a wide range of programs, assisting clients of all races, backgrounds and beliefs. Our service area includes 24 counties throughout Central Kentucky.
GENERAL SUMMARY:
The Program Coordinator of Community Support Services will support 2 programs, the Indigent Burial Program (80%) and the Father Jack Jones Food Pantry (20%) to fulfill the responsibilities assigned to Catholic Charities in collaboration with Louisville Metro Government and the Office of the Coroner in connection with indigent burials, as reflected in the Memorandum of Understanding between Catholic Charities and those entities. This role is also responsible for supporting day-to-day operations of the Father Jack Jones food pantry. He/she is responsible for ensuring the pantry is stocked, clean, safe, and sanitary.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND TASKS:
· Participate as an active member of the Community Support Services team, which includes attending meetings and working collaboratively.
· Communicate with hospitals, hospices, nursing homes, and the Office of the Coroner with respect to individuals who reside in and die in Jefferson County and may qualify for indigent burial services.
· Confer and communicate with individuals who purport to stand as next of kin for deceased individuals as to whether the deceased qualifies for indigent burial services; obtain completed paperwork for indigent services, cremation, and reimbursement as appropriate.
· Work in collaboration with the Office of the Coroner, Louisville Metro Parks Department, and Owen Funeral Homes to schedule indigent burial services on a weekly basis.
· Make sure all decedents, with no families, are checked on with Veterans Affairs and make sure all qualified veterans are buried at State or National Cemetery.
· Work with different religious leaders and institutions in order to make sure all religious and cultural customs are respected and practiced.
· Coordinate volunteer participation at scheduled services and prepare a written program for services.
· Maintain records as to date of service and location of burial for each individual served.
· Maintain and properly expend any funds provided by Metro or private donors intended for providing headstones, and work with volunteers in laying headstones at the cemetery, as circumstances permit.
· Plan on Souls Day Event once a year on the first Thursday of the month.
· Maintain up-to-date tracking sheet of domestic client emails and phone calls.
· Maintain monthly food supply based on Father Jack Jones inventory protocols and community needs.
· Pickup, receive, and record food donations.
· Stock storage part of the pantry and ensure all food is sorted and stored in a safe and sanitary manner.
· Manages volunteer schedule to ensure adequate coverage in pantry and with pickups.
· Stock the front pantry so that there is sufficient food on shelves.
· Record daily food/household distribution data and assist with monthly food bank reports.
· Manage the food distribution process with the help of staff and volunteers.
· Orient food bank volunteers with tasks to be done to prepare for food distributions.
· Manage clients’ entry/exit from pantry with the help of staff and volunteers.
· Complete intakes for new clients and update client information in the agency database.
· Assist with inventory tracking and reporting
· Ensure the warehouse and pantry is clean and organized.
· All other duties as assigned
