Job Summary
The Safety and Risk Manager leads all aspects of workplace safety, risk management, and regulatory compliance. This role develops and maintains programs that protect employees, assets, and operations while fostering a culture of safety and continuous improvement.
Duties/Responsibilities
- Safety Programs: Design and manage comprehensive safety and health programs focused on prevention and emergency preparedness.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure adherence to federal, state, and local safety and environmental regulations (OSHA, EPA, etc.).
- Risk Assessments: Conduct audits, inspections, and hazard analyses to identify and mitigate risks.
- Incident Investigation: Oversee investigations of accidents and near misses; document findings and implement corrective actions.
- Insurance & Claims: Manage workers’ compensation and liability claims; coordinate with carriers and legal teams.
- Training: Develop and deliver safety training for employees and leadership.
- Reporting: Analyze safety performance data and present recommendations to leadership.
- Emergency Preparedness: Maintain response plans and lead drills for crisis management.
- Culture Building: Partner with leadership to promote engagement and accountability in safety initiatives
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s in Occupational Safety, Environmental Health, Risk Management, or related field (Master’s preferred).
- Experience: 5+ years in safety or risk management leadership; manufacturing or service industry experience a plus.
- Certifications: CSP, ASP, or equivalent preferred.
Skills:
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Excellent communication and leadership skills
- Knowledge of OSHA standards and risk management practices
Physical Requirements
- Ability to walk and inspect facilities regularly; lift up to 30 lbs occasionally.
- Work in office and manufacturing environments; exposure to noise and temperature variations.
- Regular travel between company facilities required.
