Located in Danville, KY, the historic, picturesque 150-acre campus is 30 miles from Lexington, in the famed Bluegrass Region of Central Kentucky.



 
            Responsible for the administration and oversight of all accounting activities of  the College, and for the interpretation of and compliance with federal and state laws/regulations and GAAP (generally accepted accounting procedures).            Individual reports to the Vice President of Finance.
 
 
Essential Job Functions:
 
  • Provide administrative and operational leadership for staff;
  • Oversee the accounting practices and activities of the College, including, but not limited to:  cash – daily transactions, bank reconciliations and treasury functions, student accounts – including former and current, accounts payable, development and implementation of internal controls and audits;
  • Ensures fixed assets – construction in progress, capitalization and depreciation, are accounted for properly; 
  • Preparation of annual financial statements in accordance with FASB;
  • Oversee the annual external audit, including the annual A-133 audit;
  • Remain current, and maintain compliance, with applicable tax law and filing requirements such as:  provide information for the preparation of the  annual non-profit tax return – 990, oversee preparation of student tuition statements – 1098T, oversee preparation of vendor payment statements – 1099, FISAP, IPEDS, sales/use tax, oversee preparation of quarterly and annual annuity statements and returns, advise on withholding tax statements and returns – W2, 941, etc.;   
  • Bond accounting and maintenance, including interest and premium amortization;
  • The controller assists the vice president for finance in analysis activities for investments and strategic financial planning;
  • Analyze data and develop financial reports by collecting, organizing and analyzing financial and statistical data outlining the College’s financial position in areas of income and expenditures based on past, present and forecasted operations for forecasting and trending;
  • The controller supports the preparation and execution of the Annual Operating Budget as needed;   
  • Knowledge of the use and development of financial systems that integrate budgeting and strategic planning processes of the College; 
  • Demonstrate interpersonal skills, with an enthusiasm for collaborating and partnering with all constituents, while creating a culture of transparency;
  • Demonstrate a high level of integrity and sound judgment and;

  • Contribute to the overall success of the department by performing all other essential duties and responsibilities as assigned.
 
 
            Education and Experience
 
            Bachelor’s degree required.  Course of study in Accounting, Finance or related field. Master’s degree and/or CPA is a plus.             
 
 Physical Requirements:
 
                        Limited pushing, pulling, lifting.  Lifting would not exceed 20 lbs.
                        Mobility on campus necessary.

Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance required
CPA Preferred.
