JOB SKILLS/ RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Ability to read and interpret instructions, procedures, manuals, and other documents
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Knowledge of cleaning methods and equipment
  • Basic understanding of the upkeep and care of the equipment used for cleaning and maintenance
  • Understanding of cleaning compounds and chemicals and their safe, effective use
  • Willingness to learn and follow directions

QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must be 18 years of age
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license
  • Performs maintenance of buildings that include painting, electrical, and generate repairs
  • Resolves complex maintenance problems, keeps related records, and completes repair projects and minor remodels
  • Reports and resolves building problems
  • May order maintenance supplies and equipment, maintains equipment and tools
  • May coordinate work of contractors, as assigned
  • Move furniture and room/meeting set up
  • Complete all duties listed on the daily schedule and maintain daily upkeep of assigned area and equipment with minimal supervision
  • Perform general building maintenance duties including carpentry projects, changing filters, light bulbs, and ballasts, clearing plumbing clogs, repairing leaking faucets, replacing ceiling tile,
  • Perform janitorial/housekeeping duties as needed
  • Uses hand and/or power tools daily
  • Ensure YMCA buildings and property are secure during shift and report incidents and hazardous conditions to supervisor
  • Operate motorized equipment used for cleaning and general maintenance of floor and facility
  • Receive check-in and stock inventory, if needed

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Move up to 50 pounds of project material and/or tools to storage sites
  • Work at heights up to 30 feet for extended periods of time
  • Work with paint, cleaning equipment, chemical compounds, solvents, cleaners, and solutions in dry, liquid, powder, spray and aerosol forms
  • Ability to paint, clean equipment, and operate motorized equipment as needed
  • Work in conditions that will create dirt and dust
  • Perform essential maintenance to facility which may involve, but not limited to the following activities; Semi-reaching to full-reach overhead, crouching, kneeling, shoveling, working in narrow and/or confining spaces; Overhead, and at ground level; twisting of the waist, shoulders, and legs; and lying on stomach and/or back
  • Ability to report and record maintenance requests or work on software
  • Ability to work outdoors for extended periods of time in all weather conditions
Certification Requirements (All)
Valid drivers license
