We offer you a career with a future and the chance to make a lasting difference in your community.  Membership Services team members, under the direct supervision of the Sr. Membership Director, are responsible for creating a welcoming atmosphere, listening to and understanding member needs, developing relationships with members, and being knowledgeable about programs and services throughout the Y.  Membership Services staff must have a passion for providing an exceptional member experience.  


QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Minimum age of 21
  • High-school diploma or equivalent
  • Previous customer service experience
  • Provide and create a welcoming atmosphere that is people centered & service oriented
  • Ability to build relationships with members, guests and co-workers
  • Strong leadership, organizational and communication skills.
  • A positive, “can-do” attitude and ability to work independently as well as part of a team
  • Take the initiative to identify and act on problem. Lead by example
  • Model the YMCA character and values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility through your actions and conversations with members

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Uphold the Mission and Philosophy of the YMCA of Greater Louisville
  • Responsible for ensuring the safety of all Y members and guests in the gym
  • Emergency responder to staff and member needs in the gym
  • Monitor the gym and occasionally the hallways and facility rooms
  • Keep gym free of personal items, debris and trash throughout the day
  • Relate to the public, providing excellent services to members, guests and participants
  • Organize, facilitate, and uphold gym rules and guidelines for all cross-court basketball games
  • Facilitate conversations with members regarding questions and concerns
  • Inform supervisor of unusual situations or unresolved issues
  • Remain knowledgeable in all programs, class schedules and membership information
  • Perform member service responsibilities as needed; included but not limited to assisting the front desk with checking in members, providing accurate information about programs, schedules and membership
  • Understand and enforce all YMCA policies dealing with member services

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: 

  1. Must be able to remain alert and attentive
  2. Must be able to work from a standing position
  3. Must be able to perform CPR/First Aid in emergency situations
  4. Ability to communicate verbally with staff and members for long periods of time
  5. Ability to lift 50 pounds
