Together, we fight to improve the disparities that persist in early care and education, economic mobility, home ownership, racial equity, and public policy in Jefferson, Bullitt, Oldham and Shelby counties in Kentucky and Clark, Floyd, and Harrison counties in Indiana. 

 MUW has undergone a major shift with its impact model, focusing on three distinct pillars: Thriving Kids, Strong Households, and Equitable Community. Building on its core strength of mobilizing the caring power of communities, MUW has re-imagined the civic engagement and impact it can have in the region. However, we continue to unite community partners around critical programs and initiatives tailored to meet the specific needs of each community. These include programs and initiatives in early childhood development, economic empowerment & mobility, policy advocacy to support systemic reform, workforce development, homelessness prevention, mentoring and facilitation of neighborhood networking. In 2020, MUW received a one-time gift of $20 million from activist and philanthropist MacKenzie Scott, which was a testament to its continuous investment in programs and services that combat racial and social injustice.

Position Summary

MUW’s ASQ Hub is a community-wide effort to assess and support children’s developmental milestones and connect families to services and resources that allow their children to thrive. The Manager of Developmental Screening requires strategic engagement of healthcare partners, volunteers, community partners, government, faith-based organizations, agencies, and families. The Developmental Screening Managers will build relationships with partners, conduct developmental screenings, train partners, establish referral procedures, establish and maintain relationships with parents, including multilingual families. The Manager will document services in the Hub database, communicate with families about their child’s developmental screening scores, share any concerns about development, and provide information on referrals to connect them to services. The Developmental Screening Manager will connect families to services and high-quality learning experiences, increasing kindergarten readiness and making a measurable difference in a child’s ability to thrive.

Key Responsibilities / Essential Functions

1.      Work as a collaborative member of Metro United Way’s Impact Team, ensuring alignment between all aspects of MUW’s ASQ Hub, as well as MUW’s larger goals to close the Education Gap.  

2.    Build relationships with and engage healthcare partners, volunteers, community partners, government, faith-based organizations, agencies, and families to grow awareness of the work of MUW’s ASQ Hub and expand the community’s understanding of how they can be a partner in that work.  

3.      Manage the expansion of the Developmental Screening Hub throughout the counties served by Metro United Way providing leadership and supervision in all operations and communications for the Hub’s outreach including: 

4.      Conduct daily functions of the Hub including: 

• Maintaining strong ongoing relationships with families in the ASQ program to ensure continued participation and success.   

5.      Assist in growing the reach of the Hub by providing strategic leadership in marketing the Hub by: 

• Assisting in creating and maintaining parent education via social media. 

 6.      Monitor the requirements of related grants to ensure full compliance with grant agreements, funding is being spent in alignment with grant contracts; ensure follow-through on deliverables, monitor implementation of action plans, and ensure the proper data is being collected and used for continuous improvement. 

7.      Participate in ongoing professional development related to best practices for the Hub. 

8.      Other duties as assigned.  

Education / Experience Requirements:

• Two years of experience in education, human services, nonprofit or government sector or related field
• Bachelor’s degree preferred   

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

• Must be personally committed to advancing MUW's values, mission, goals and strategies
• Knowledge in child development and community resources
• Bi-lingual preferred  
• Must have effective interpersonal communication skills, oral and written, to interact with a diverse range of people.  
• Must be able to honor private/confidential information and comply with HIPAA Standards, maintain professionalism, and exercise good judgement in all situations. 
• Some travel may be required. 
• Must be able to work nights, weekends and other unusual hours when necessary.
