Role:

The Community Relations Coordinator is responsible for community relations, financial wellness promotion, event coordination, and generational marketing. The individual will use available resources to implement tactics to increase market share among potential members and to position the Credit Union as an excellent corporate citizen. This will be accomplished through promoting financial wellness activities within the community and by supporting creative, data-informed outreach strategies that expand the Credit Union’s presence and impact.

Major Duties and Responsibilities:

Promote financial wellness programs and coordinate with branch managers to utilize those programs both externally and internally. Coordinate a comprehensive financial wellness schedule to meet the needs of membership and employees through financial education and conduct that education on a regular basis. Develop innovative and generationally targeted approaches to increase participation and engagement in financial wellness activities.

Schedule public relations opportunities to ensure Class Act receives adequate press and recognition for the programs we are sponsoring. Develop promotional strategies to increase visibility of financial wellness programs and community initiatives. Collaborate with Marketing to create campaign materials, social media content, and promotional assets that reflect current trends, diverse audience needs, and creative outreach methods.

Work with sponsor groups to promote Credit Union benefits to employees through benefit fairs and other events sponsored by those Select Employer Groups. Represent Class Act as the point-of-contact with media, applicable outside agencies and community partner organizations regarding community relations issues. Identify new partnership opportunities and strengthen existing relationships to support business development goals and expand community reach.

Assist with special events; monitor planning and execution of each event. Assist with school meetings, including production of reports, facilities, and meeting logistics. Work collaboratively with branch managers and community partners to design events that increase visibility, reinforce brand presence, and attract potential members across multiple generations.

Measure the results of financial education efforts and maintain reports on an on-going basis. Provide periodic updates on success of programs and track membership growth attributed to financial education efforts. Analyze community engagement and business development metrics; prepare reports that highlight trends, outreach effectiveness, and opportunities for innovation.

Expectations:

1. Ensure Credit Union policies and procedures are being followed in compliance with applicable laws and regulations.

2. Serve as the credit union’s financial education ambassador by developing relationships with local universities, public schools, trade schools and other organizations that can provide avenues for financial education.

3. Utilize credit union resources including BAI and America’s Credit Unions Financial Literacy programs to develop financial literacy for both internal and external members. This includes delivering education through the website, coordinating in-person sessions, and working with the trainer to strengthen staff knowledge and capability.

4. Identify opportunities to work in partnership with schools and community organizations to increase knowledge of basic personal finance and other consumer related information that promotes financial self-sufficiency among targeted markets.

5. Identify opportunities to promote Credit Union benefits through sponsored events and help to coordinate the workers for those events with Branch Managers and Vice President of Sales and Service.

6. Track, measure and report community relations efforts on a monthly basis; establish and maintain metrics to determine the ROI, when applicable.

7. May require a flexible schedule to coordinate events on some weekends and evenings.

8. Perform other such duties as may be assigned which are commensurate with the position and in the best interest of the Credit Union.

Knowledge and Skills:

Experience: Two years of similar or related experience, preferably with a financial institution.

Education: A high school education or equivalent with emphasis in Marketing or Business-related field and minimum of 2 years related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Interpersonal Skills: Candidate must possess strong written and oral communication skills with the ability to create effective financial literacy presentations. Courtesy, tact, and diplomacy are essential elements of the job. Work involves personal contact with others inside and/or outside the organization. Should possess mental alertness, neatness in appearance, punctuality, dependability, and a cooperative attitude in relations with members and other employees.

Other Skills: Ability to prioritize workflow. Ability to learn new things in a relatively short amount of time. Initiative and ability to handle multiple assignments concurrently. Ability to use an array of workplace technologies, including advanced skills using Outlook. Attention to detail and accuracy is essential. Possess solid problem-solving and negotiation skills. Must be bondable.
