Job Summary/Purpose
The Physical Therapist Assistant works under the supervision of a licensed Physical Therapist to provide treatment interventions designed to restore function, improve mobility, relieve pain, and prevent disability. The PTA ensures continuity of care by implementing the PT’s plan and monitoring patient progress.
Essential Key Job Responsibilities
· Carry out treatment plans as directed by supervising PT.
· Instruct and assist patients with therapeutic exercises, gait training, strengthening, and use of assistive devices.
· Apply physical modalities including ultrasound, electrical stimulation, and hot/cold therapy as appropriate.
· Monitor patient tolerance, performance, and safety during therapy sessions.
· Document daily progress notes and communicate changes in patient condition to PT.
· Educate patients and families on therapy goals, safety, and home programs.
· Assist with equipment fitting and safe use.
· Maintain treatment areas, equipment, and infection control standards.
Role Minimum Qualifications
Required Education
· Associate degree from an accredited PTA program
