Job Summary/Purpose

The State Registered Nursing Assistant (SRNA) provides direct patient care under the supervision of licensed nursing staff. The SRNA assists patients with activities of daily living, supports nursing interventions, and helps maintain a safe, clean, and therapeutic environment. Care is delivered in accordance with The Joint Commission (TJC) standards, CMS Conditions of Participation, state registry requirements, hospital policies, and the nursing plan of care.

 

Essential Key Job Responsibilities

·         Provide assistance with activities of daily living (ADLs) including bathing, grooming, dressing, toileting, feeding, and ambulation.

·         Take and record vital signs, height, weight, and intake/output accurately and report changes to nursing staff.

·         Assist patients with mobility, transfers, and positioning, using safe patient handling techniques.

·         Maintain patient safety through fall prevention, infection control, and adherence to hospital safety protocols.

·         Respond promptly to patient call lights and requests for assistance.

·         Provide comfort measures, emotional support, and compassionate care to patients and families.

·         Observe and report patient status, concerns, or changes in condition to RN/LPN in a timely manner.

·         Assist with specimen collection and transport as directed.

·         Support nursing staff with admission, transfer, and discharge processes.

·         Maintain clean, orderly patient rooms and ensure supplies are stocked.

·         Document care provided in the hospital’s electronic health record (EHR) system as required.

·         Assist with emergency situations and codes, as directed by licensed staff.

·         Uphold patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA regulations.

·         Participate in ongoing education, competency assessments, and departmental quality improvement initiatives.

 

Role Minimum Qualifications

 

Required Education

·         High School Diploma or equivalent


Required Licensure and Certifications At Hire

  • Active SRNA status with KY Board of Nursing with no restrictions
  • BLS

Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

·         Compassionate, patient-focused, and committed to high-quality care.

·         Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

·         Ability to work collaboratively as part of an interdisciplinary healthcare team.

·         Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and respond effectively in urgent situations.

·         Knowledge of infection prevention, patient safety, and hospital protocols.

 

Preferred Education, Licensure and Certifications

·         Ward clerk experience

·         Previous experience in a hospital or acute care setting

this is a Full-Time position 7am - 7pm with an every other weekend rotation
